The government has recently begun to be able to control and suppress the spread of the COVID-19 virus. But recently has emerged a new virus variant called the Omicron variant. To prevent the third wave due to the virus coming from International, the following are the conditions for entering Indonesia from abroad for foreign nationals and Indonesian citizens via air travel.

Quarantine period is 10-14 days

Before the omicron variant, the quarantine period was 7 days. But now the government has changed the quarantine regulation to 10-14 days. 14-day quarantine is applied to Indonesian citizens who come from 11 countries from countries contaminated with the spread of the Omicron virus.

Meanwhile, this 10-day quarantine applies to foreign nationals and Indonesian citizens with a travel history from outside 11 countries who are prohibited from entering Indonesia. The cost of the PCR test until quarantine will be borne by the government for those Indonesian citizens with the status of Indonesian migrant workers, students and government employees. However, for foreign nationals, the costs will be borne independently.

Prohibition of entry for foreign nationals from 11 countries

Due to the presence of this new variant of the omicron virus, Indonesia has closed the entrance for foreigners from 11 countries, both those who have lived or who have stayed in the last 14 days in the country, where there has been confirmation that the country has the spread of the omicron virus.

These countries are South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, Lesotho, and the last is Hong Kong. Indonesian citizens who have a travel history from these 11 countries can still enter Indonesia on condition that they are quarantined for 14 days, and have a negative PCR test result for 3×24 hours. In addition, they are also required to have a vaccine certificate at least 14 days before departure and fill out an e-Hac in the PeduliLindungi application.

PCR result time is shortened

Previously, the PCR results were valid for 7×24 hours, but now the PCR test is only valid for 3×24 hours. This new rule will be implemented starting on December 3, 2021. This is a step taken to regulate international travel, guarantee the flight crew and filter them so that the variant of the Omicron virus does not enter Indonesia. All flight crew teams arriving in Indonesia either waiting for the next flight schedule or staying overnight are required to perform a PCR test. If the result is positive then all costs will be borne by the airline where the crew works.

Foreign nationals who wish to enter Indonesia are required to have a short visit visa or other entry permit in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. And it is also mandatory to have health insurance with a coverage value of USD 100,000 which includes the cost of handling covid.
