The Sanghyang Jaran Gading dance is performed without gamelan accompaniment using only a special song or song called “Gending Sanghyang” which is sung by 12 krama of Geriana Kauh Village.

The Sanghyang Jaran Gading dance is performed at Pejenengan Temple, Geriana Kauh Village. The Sanghyang Jaran Gading dance is performed by men who are chosen “nostically” by the Sanghyang Jaran Gading Idea.

Sanghyang Jaran Gading Dance Ritual

Previously, the procession of the Sanghyang Jaran Gading dance performance was also carried out by the “mekukup” ritual.

In the middle of the performance, the Jaran Gading dancers, who are all male and who are already “crazed” will run past and kick the hot coals that have been specially prepared from “sambuk” (coconut shells) by the Geriana Kauh community.
